The Way of the Bodhisattva
The Way of the Bodhisattva L41 The main speaker of this session is Khenpo Sodargye Concealed Enemy: How Afflictions Delude the Mind and Ruin Our Rare Human Life
In this teaching, Khenpo Sodargye continues to explain the rarity and preciousness of human life, emphasizing that failing to practice the Dharma and choosing to commit non-virtuous actions instead will lead directly to the lower realms. He uses the story of Angulimala to illustrate how ordinary beings are driven by their afflictions, acting as if they are bewitched or have lost their sanity. Rather than looking for external causes, Khenpo urges practitioners to look within and recognize that negative mental states such as desire, anger, and ignorance are the true culprits. He points out that while afflictions have no hands, feet, or physical form, they manage to enslave sentient beings. Finally, he stresses that one should never practice patience toward afflictions; instead, they must be actively counteracted and destroyed, citing the strict self-discipline of the past Kadampa masters.
