The Vimalakirti Sutra
The Vimalakirti Sutra Lesson 03 The main speaker of this session is Khenpo Sodargye Emptiness and the Bodhisattva Path in the Vimalakirti Sutra
In this teaching of the Vimalakirti Sutra, Khenpo Sodargye begins by introducing an upcoming comparative study of the Classic of Filial Piety and Buddhist compassion. He then delves into the qualities of the 32,000 Bodhisattvas present at the assembly. Khenpo explains three traditional Dharma teaching styles (the leaping tiger, crawling tortoise, and summarizing lion) to interpret the profound verses. He details the Bodhisattvas' virtues, including their perfect wisdom, integration of emptiness and conduct, reliance on the Buddhas' blessings, and spontaneous dedication to benefiting beings unrequested. Furthermore, he emphasizes the importance of understanding Madhyamaka to confidently sound the "lion's roar" of emptiness, the necessity for all practitioners to protect the true Dharma, and the internal practice of subduing the four Maras and erroneous views to enrich the lineage of the Three Jewels.
