The Terrifying Faults of Obstructing Others' Virtuous Deeds #The Way of the Bodhisattva L37
The Way of the Bodhisattva
The Way of the Bodhisattva L37 The main speaker of this session is Khenpo Sodargye The Terrifying Faults of Obstructing Others' Virtuous Deeds
In this teaching on the Bodhicharyavatara, Khenpo Sodargye addresses doubts concerning individuals who seemingly abandoned bodhicitta but still attained liberation, such as Shariputra. He explains that the subtle workings of karma and cause and effect are inconceivable to ordinary beings and can only be fully comprehended by the omniscient wisdom of a Buddha. Khenpo reiterates that for ordinary practitioners, abandoning bodhicitta is the most severe downfall, causing immense harm to oneself and the welfare of all sentient beings. He strongly warns against creating obstacles for others' dharma propagation or virtuous deeds out of jealousy or anger, as this severely damages the root of bodhicitta. Finally, he advises against alternating between negative actions and good deeds, encouraging practitioners to maintain their bodhisattva vows purely and consistently to attain spiritual realization.
