A Journey to the West L76 Seeing the Flyer 1 and earlier aerospace achievements

In this episode of "A Journey to the West," Khenpo Sodargye recounts His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok's visits to iconic locations in Washington, D.C. The tour begins at the National Air and Space Museum, where His Holiness expressed profound interest in humanity's cutting-edge technological advancements, particularly examining the Apollo Lunar Module and intently watching the moon landing documentary. Khenpo highlights His Holiness's open-mindedness toward modern science. The narrative then shifts to a letter from US Vice President Al Gore, who, despite missing a personal meeting, arranged a special tour of the White House. During the White House visit, the entourage was guided by a remarkable staff member—an American Buddhist nun wearing traditional Tibetan monastic robes while working in the nation's political center. The episode concludes with a brief visit to the Chinese Embassy, capturing the unique blend of profound Buddhist presence and modern Western society.
